Mark Clark

Drums and Percussion

Mark was born/raised in Elmira,N.Y.  He and his wife reside in Lyons N.Y.

He received his first drum, a gold sparkle Ludwig snare, when he was in the fourth grade.

A Kent silver sparkle drum set soon followed-a move his parents would come to regret, due to the relentless house tremors.  Earliest music influences included the Beatles, Chicago, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, Cream, and the unforgettable Motown sound.  Later would come the disco era, featuring the Bee Gees and Donna Summer.  High school dances spotlighted Mark’s first band, “Beowulf”.  Subsequent bands followed in college and throughout his early teaching years in the Ithaca, N.Y, area.
First came marriage, then came kids and then a 25 year mothballing of the drum kit. Empty nesting brought free time and a dusting of the white marine pearl set.
Church gigs led to band formations-“off and running again”. The groups came and went. First rock, then country, jazz and American Classics, as well.
His return to the unbeatable rock-n-roll/jazz sound came when he met Tonal Recall’s founding members. What a joy it is to perform with these outstanding musicians!
So who is on Mark’s drumming pedestal?  Years ago he would extol the thunderous sound of Ginger Baker from Cream, but today it’s Billy Chilson, who backs up jazz trumpeter, Chris Botti.
Thanks for all of your support.  Looking forward to seeing you all at Tonal Recall’s next performance!
